Photoshop Elements & Curves
2004-04-18 by Paul Roark
Thanks to information from Steve Y. (are you a member?) it looks like there is a way for Photoshop Elements to use the Photoshop Image Adjustment curves and control the inksets I've been involved with. The basics are that Photoshop Elements supports layers. I can make a very small .PSD file that has one layer containing an adjustment curve. In Photoshop Elements this small file can be opened along with the real working file. When it's time to print the working file can be converted to RGB, the layer from the small file can be dragged from the Layers palette to the working file, and the result is that the working RGB file then has the original inkset control curve applied to it. I downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements 2 and the system appears to work fine. Of course I'll have to make a bunch of little files, but that is not too hard. I assume MIS will post them. If there are people with Photoshop Elements who want to try this, let me know what curves you'd like converted to .PSD layers.
