How dark should dark gray be

I recently changed inks on my 7000, using quadtones, printing with Imageprint. My grayscale ramp is strange, appearing normal from 0 to 80%, then rapidly going very dark almost to D-max, then lightening to about 75% density, and finally rapidly dropping to black. Has anyone had this problem? A second question relates to the expected densities for quadtones. When I do a straight cmyk print, it appears that my dark gray looks like about 80% density. I thought that dark gray in quads was much closer to black. Paul, what are the approximate densities of each gray in a quadtone set of the "traditional" Piezo type? THanks Stephen
