Hawk Mountain Papers - good quality service.

2004-05-12 by spersky123

Hello,

I ordered my batch of Hawk Mountain Papers at the recommendation of
Clayton Jones. I have not been dissapointed. Their customer service
is top notch. I had some Merlin Smooth that is curved, and I was
having trouble printing. So they are sending me out a new package of
Merlin Smooth (no questions asked). I did get a few sheets of the
Merlin smooth to print well, and my results are different and more
neutral then the H. Photo Rag. The papers I think I am settled on
are.

1) Epson Velvet Fine Art (for that yellow/aged tone reminds me of a
very mild Sepia)
2) Merlin Smooth (neutral tone)
3) Condor B/W (very clean and cool tone like Selenium)

I am out of H. Photo Rag and the cost is just ungodly so I don't
think I plan to order any more.

I have not noticed any significant D-Max variation among these papers.
All of the blacks are very dark.

I use an epson 2200 with MSI Eboni Black only ink.

Btw, I had origianlly sent out many (9 or 10) free samples of B/O
printing on various papers. I now have to charge at least my costs
of shipping and materials. Just send me an e-mail if you want a
print. I am not doing this to make money. I just want to help others
get started with making great B/O results because it is fun, and it
works very well.

Here is a link to my portfolio on photo.net if anyone is interested.
Just tell me what image you would like. However, they are jpegs and
they dont do the actual final prints justice.

Premier Fine Art Hot Press is another good one on the warm end,
similar to VFA, but with a very smooth surface if you don't want the
texture.
