2100/2200: BO printing: Epson OEM versus Eboni black

2100/2200: BO printing: Epson OEM versus Eboni black

2004-05-31 by Bernhard Sch.

Hello,
has someone experienced a difference in black only printing on the 2100
between the original Epson inks and the UT7 inks/ Eboni black? Is one of the
two giving smoother results than the other?
I have the 2100 here still with original Epson carts and the only thing I
normally print is BO - I rarely do color work and without imageprint (which
I dont have) its useless to print b&w photos in color mode.

Thanks in advance for your answers,

Bernie

Yes. My experience is that the Photo Black gives the smoothest tones.
Matte Black is a bit more grainy looking, and Eboni is even a bit
more than MK. I'm not sure why that is, perhaps particle size...

Also, the driver has two different dot algorithms. For example, when
I make a print on thin paper using the top feeder, it uses a
single-dot pattern. But with thick paper via the manual feeder, each
dot is actually a pair of tiny dots close together, and the general
dither pattern is a bit different.

I use Eboni with a 2200.

Clayton
