A table saw or mitre saw would not give a clean edge. It would be torn with
a lot of fuzz, which would likely bugger up your printer. The roll cutting
machine gives a clean sharp edge, as if cut with a razor.

Thank you Moreno. I was hoping that a fine enough blade would allow a miter
saw to make a clean enough cut, just as it would on wood. I guess not.
