UT7 for Epson 7600?

UT7 for Epson 7600?

2004-07-26 by Michael Gordon

I am seriously considering converting my 7600 (pigments) to a full-
time b/w printer. I'm basically looking for a confirmation of the UT7
inkset or suggestions for other better options. I'm not so concerned
with truly nuetral b/w as I am with variable toning options, which is
one of the reasons why I'm favoring UT7. Hahnemuhle Photorag has been
and will continue to be my paper of choice.

I'm looking for deepest and richest blacks, and as far as I have
researched, UT7 with Eboni black on Photorag seems like the way to
get it. Am I solid in my thinking? Are there any significant concerns
or things I should be aware of in the changeover? Is the changeover
fairly straightforward and easy? BTW, I run WinXP.

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Michael,

I too run Windows XP and been beta testing the 7600 with UT7 for a
while now and love it. You'll have to flush thoroughly before the
change, but all is pretty straight forward. So far in building
curves for the 7600 I have found the PhotoRag to be the best in
terms of richness of black and it also gives the best dmax on the
7600... around 1.68

You can download my curves at:

Good Luck!

ever had - and my prints are better than ever.

THANK YOU for the replies, Bill and Arlene.

One final question: are there any known bugs or issues with the UT7
inkset combined with Epson driver/printer? Thanks again.
