CondorBW with UT2 inkset

CondorBW with UT2 inkset

2004-07-26 by borgida

Hello

I am interested in trying out the CondowBW paper with the UT2
inkset. I currently use William Turner paper but am interested in
finding a more neutral, textured paper. Which neutral UT2 curve
should I use with the CondowBW paper? Has anyone compared CondorBW
with William Turner?

Thanks
Ross

I'm not a UT user but I have compared these papers. I just posted a
review of papers at the web site below (#5 in the series). Condor and
WT are at the farthest opposite ends of the cold/warm spectrum.
Condor has both the whitest paper color and the coldest ink color, and
WT is just the opposite on the warm side. These ink color ratings are
based on how the papers render Eboni ink by itself.

One thing I'm not sure of is to what degree they will affect variable
toned inks. For example, how warm can a vari-tone ink print on Condor
when a pure carbon ink looks black to begin with? Seems like it
would take a lot of magenta toner to warm it up. At what point will
it begin to look pink instead of like a warm tone silver print? And
the same question for printing cool on an extreme warm paper like WT?

The closest thing to a "standard" paper tone I would say is PhotoRag,
because it's so widely used, and it's also similar to EEM, also widely
used. They happen to fall about the middle of the cool/warm ink color
scale among existing papers (4 in a scale of 1-6), so its easy for a
vari-tone ink to go in either direction.

I'm interested to hear for anyone who has used UT inks on these
papers.

Regards,
Clayton
