Black only printing and "mono"

2004-08-03 by colingruk

Hi,

"mono" is the title of Arem publishing's (formerly Creative
Monochrome) bimonthly magazine for black and white enthusiasts
www.arempublishing.com. In Issue 40 May/June 2004, the editor Roger
Maile expounds on black only printing with a "how to" guide.

Quotes below are selected by me from the article:

"...it is perfectly possible to produce technically pleasing
monochrome digital prints on a 'normal' printer using just the black
ink."

Having referred to the Epson 1290 and Somerset Enhanced Satin and
Hahnemuhle Photorag he sets out a procedure which list members may
find of interest. This appears to be a different procedure from
Clayton's and so may be of interest.

In the article's last paragraph he writes "..I maintain that anyone's
starting point for monochrome digital should be the single ink
printing deescribed here. If you take control of the process you may
well find that more elaborate methods are not required."

I have not spoken to Roger on this and do not know if he is aware of
Clayton's pineering work.

I believe "mono' is available in the US.

Colin
