Re: [Digital BW] Sharpening halos, was Problems with Piezo?

Hi Todd, Well, I don't care for halos at all, and try to do everything I can to eliminate the obvious ones, such as you'd find between a rock and a sky, or a building and a sky. They're ok in weathered wood or grass, if they are barely perceptible. Or are you speaking of incredible tiny ones? Anyway, this sharpen filter, similar but a little better than Katrin Eisemann's sharpen filter in her Retouching book. (both are great, as is Johnny Deadman's). On the image of my cat, there is no halo on a 13x19 inch print that i can see. This filter removes most of the halo effect. In film, it used to be called a Mackie line. Never did like it, except in a solarized print, where it just "fit in." Jerry DPO., H.P.
