Neutral Color with QTR and Ultra-Chrome

Neutral Color with QTR and Ultra-Chrome

2004-08-21 by john dean

Someone on this site was having difficulty in achieving a truely neutral monochrome print
with Ultra-Chrome inkset 2200 and the QTR rip. I am about to work with this system next
week and I was wondering what people have expreienced in this regard?

My limited experience is that QTR--without difficulty--produced quite
adequately
neutral tones
(with 2200 Ultrachrome/EEM paper) when the provided "cool" and "warm"
profiles
were used at about 1:1 (50/50). With my printer, 60/40 (cool/warm)
often
seemed to give the best neutral tone, but YMMV. My advice is to start
experimenting with QTR using
the recommended settings and not worry (yet) very much about what
"people" have
experienced.
