Roller marks on Semigloss (Stylus 2100 with UT7)

Roller marks on Semigloss (Stylus 2100 with UT7)

2004-09-22 by Bernie Ess

Hello,
I did a group search but did not find anything although I thought this
was discussed before:

I print UT7 on Epson premium semigloss. When they come out I see
regular roller marks, specifically on black surfaces, in the direction
of the paper feeding. They are not "pizza wheels" but broader marks
coming from rubber wheels.

Is there a way to get rid of that - or can someone direct me to a
website/ discussion thread where a way to deal with it is described?
Like this I simply cannot use Semigloss except for certain photos
without uniform sufaces where this shows up more easily.

THanks in advance,

Bernie

You can lock the wheels with small plastic strips. Open the top cover of
the printer and insert the plastic strips between the wheels and the
cages they are sitting in. You might get some side effects if you do
borderless printing, but normal printing will work just fine.

I'm not sure if I explained this clearly enough, but the point is to
lock the wheels in an upward position so that the wheels don't touch the
paper.

Thanks Daniel,
actually while looking at it I remembered and managed to do that -
there are still slight marks on the paper, but they come from
something else. The UT7 with semigloss is a delicate combination -
very sensitive to scratches and marks. I am printing portraits with
very dark background, thats why those things show up so easily.
