Moab Entrada question

Moab Entrada question

2004-10-12 by Bernie Ess

Hello, I'd like to try out new papers, and the Moab Entrada comes to
my mind. Unfortunately I have to order in the US as it doesn't seem to
be available in Europe. If I do that, which one would you prefer: The
Entrada or the Entrada natural, 190g or 300g?
Thanks for your input.

I always prefer a heavier paper but either weight paper will work
fine.

As for White or Natural White I think this is something you need to
test yourself with your images and your inkset.

Personally I prefer the Natural White.

Good luck,

Oh I forgot indeed: I print UT7 on a 2100 - most of the times I use
EAM and Epson premium semigloss.

Bernie,

there is nothing like testing it yourself. It would be worth your trouble
to ask for a trial package from Moab. Since you print on mostly white
papers like EAM, you may like the whiter version better. And my guess
is that for anything bigger than letter size, the 300 will feel more
solid - though not worth the extra money if you frame behind glass.

Dmax on the Entrada is in the 1.61 - 1.67 range, which is just below
the Hahnemuhle papers (1.66 - 1.74). If dmax is your primary
criterion, Photo Rag or White Velvet may give you better black
depending on your printer and inkset. You can look up more detailed
info in the dMax_Finder here in the Files section.

I use them both and love both of them, but for clarity of image and the
glowing effect from white paper, I use the white most often.
