No matter what the medium - sculpture, painting, photography - the artist
pre-visualizes. However, the moment the blob of clay, slash of paint, or the
actual print appears, the reality of the physical presence of the image replaces
the pre-visualization. Between the imagination and reality falls the shadow.
Anyway, that's my experience.
