Great, and yes I have the parts list thankyou.
Dampers, are those included in the maintenance kit?

Yep that's me with the Howtek.

The dampers are extra - about $9.00 - each you need six.

Dampers

John,

What are these dampers, and what exactly do they do?

Dampers are like reservoirs for the ink just before the ink travels into the head. They sit on
top of the head and ink fills up in them. They are a bladder like device with a screen built
in. Each ink line has one.

---So John,

Did you try to clean those dampers with something before ordering your new heads? I
guess these things could build up gunk before the ink even gets to the head and back up
like a sewage line.

No. The 7000 belongs to my client over an hour away. If the printer was close by I would
try the dampers first. But figured if I have to get to the dampers I might as well replace the
heads too.

But you are correct about gunk build up. I think it was Ernst who recomended to replace
the dampers first to see it that fixes the banding/bad nozzle check problem.

The printer itself hasn't many prints through it but has had about four different ink sets
ink. I'm sure the dampers are not in great shape.

Tomorrow is the big day - installing heads and dampers. I'll let eveyone know how it goes.

---Thanks John,

Yea, if you have to tear that whole thing apart might as well make it a total head
restoration job. That's what I plan to do also. Keep us informed.
