I received my traditional wet lab. 11 by 14 fibre warm tone print from my B&W lab and
I showed them the DeVere enlargement (warm tone fibre print) and here are their
comments:

very grainy, not sharp, flat (does not look like there are 3 dimensions), blown high
lites, and no range of tones.

The file that I sent to the lab with the deVere equipment was a 35.1M file from a
35mm ISO 400 Fuji B&W film negative, scanned on a Canon FS4000 scanner (mine),
scanned at 4000dpi, 16 bit, histogram was ok (high lites could easily be blown),
untagged grey profile. I sent the deVere lab a "BO" 8 by 10 inkjet proof printed on my
Epson 870 printer.

My own observations:

1) The operator of the devere enlarger could have easily got a decent print by just
moving the middle indicator of the PhotoShop "Levels Adjustment."

2) Is the operator at fault for the bad print or is the deVere enlarger. It could be that
personnel operating the deVere equipment are inexpererienced.

3) If it is the lack of experienced operators, would it not be easier for the lab with the
deVere equipment to give clients the Photoshop color settings and any other specs
required for getting a decent print?
