QTR and QTR GUI Install Issue

QTR and QTR GUI Install Issue

2004-11-18 by jarrrush

I am on a WIN XP Home machine with an Epson 1270 printer. I have
installed beta 3 of QTR and the latest QTR 3.44 GUI interface,
created a shared printer, and created the windows looped feedback
adapter since I am not on a networked printer. When I open QTR GUI,
I get the following message "No printer definitions found. Be sure
QTR GUI is installed in the same folder as QTR." As near as I can
tell I have saved QTR to the default location in Program Files and
QTR GUI is a folder nested within a QTR folder called "bin". The ppd
folder, model, and quadtone folders appear empty within the QTR
folder. Any suggestions? Also, within QTRGUI the field of "printing
models" is not populated even though within the "names" field the
printers I have installed are listed. I also installed the curves
for the UT2 inks for the 1270 but I am not sure they are installed
in the right location. Thank you for your help, J.

Beta 3 of QTR has a separate install batch file for the printer than the
engine. Did you do both installs?

QTR and QTR GUI Install Issue

2004-11-18 by jarrrush

I downloaded a file called quadtonepcbeta3.zip, did the install and
then installed QTRGui. I next downloaded the 1270-UT2-PC.zip profile
and installed the files.

Could the error be because of pulling this down after the QTR Gui
install? Again, I am not sure where the 1270 files should be located
after downloaded.

Thank you,
J

Something went wrong when you installed the 1270-UTC-PC.zip files. That
Install1270 batch file should have populated a the QuadTone folder with a
folder named Quad1270 and placed the curves in that folder. It should also
have placed a file in the PPD folder named Quad1270.ppd.

QTRgui gets the items to populate its drop-downs from these folders. If they
are empty, the drop-downs will be empty.

Re: [Digital BW] QTR and QTR GUI Install Issue

2004-11-22 by jarrrush

Thank you for the help. The printer profiles are now installed in
the correct location and the printer is producing output, yet it
looks terrible and I am sure it is due to some mis-step in my set-
up. I have tested by printing the same image from QTRGUI and
directly from QTR and the output is the same - the image is blurry,
choppy, almost indistinguishable from the original image. It also
places the image along the bottom edge of the letter size page, even
when I select center image in QTRGUI.When I print from Photoshop
through the Epson driver directly, the output is fine. It is a
grayscale .tif in 8 bit. I have included the lines from QTR DOS when
I print the image. One line mentions that a network connection can
not be found on LPT3 - this is where I have my loopback adapter. Is
this the issue? Checking the status of it, it staes that it has
limited or no connectivity. Again, it is a WIN XP Home machine. Any
help is appreciated --
