4000 dmax and "glop"

4000 dmax and "glop"

2004-12-07 by Paul Roark

For those running 4000s with UT7 or 8 (the same now), here is a thought that
may have no merit whatsoever.

Try using a matte paper setting and one of the 2200 "Eboni-glossy" curves to
print on glossy paper, like Epson Premium Semimatte. That will cut out the
MK and print the 100% black with C & M position ink. It may also have a
heavier ink load, which may help the dmax while possibly hurting midtone
smoothness.

If the C+M dmax is good, then that also frees up the PK cart for a possible
second-pass gloss overcoat (the "glop" one of the recent threads was talking
about).

Just a thought.
