Which Ink Set?

Which Ink Set?

2005-01-17 by adam@adampozek.com

Good evening, All.

Thanks to the February issue of Shutterbug Magazine, I just discovered this
forum over the weekend. This is my first post.

By way of introduction, I am a film photographer. Until recently, I shot
35mm in both color and black and white, transparency and negative. Over the
past year to 18 months, I have gravitated primarily towards infrared
photography and have also made the leap to large format. I do have a
non-photographic day job, but I do occasionally shoot some events. My
efforts at making money at photography are more centered around print sales.

I scan my images on an Epson Perfection 3200 flat bed scanner and use
PhotoCal to calibrate my monitor. I use Photoshop CS. I have an Epson 2200
for color printing, and I converted my 1280 for black and white use. I am
currently using the LumiJet ink set and need to order refills. However, the
inks are quite expensive, and I am finding that I can change ink sets for
the same or less money. That brings me to my question.

What ink set do folks recommend? The MIS UT2 inks are currently at the top
of my list, but I am curious to hear about peoples' experience with these
and other ink sets.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

--Adam

PS I have a friend who uses and Epson R200. It does not appear the
MIS UT2 inks are available for that printer. Does anyone have any
suggestions I could pass along to my friend?

Adam,

Have you tried QTR (Quad Tone RIP) for black & white quadtone printing
on an Epson 2200 ?

It's a sharewhare so you get to try it for free and it's only $50.00
if you like it.
