PS CS and writing new QTR profiles - opening/closing PS CS

A simple question: I find that when I am developing new curves for QTR I need to close PS and reopen it before the new profiles are available. In constructing a single curve this means I am closing and reopening PS times. Even on a 2x2.5Ghz G5 this is time consuming. Am I missing something or is this a necessary evil?
