i want to print b/w on hahnemuehle photo rag 308g by using QTR with epson 2100 (original ink/ black matte). are there any recommended settings in QTR? How can i tell the software, that i use hahnemuehle paper? does QTR detect the hahnemuehle icc profile? i just got the QTR, because it was recommended so warmly - so i´m absolutely new to it. thank you very much andreas

I use the QTRgui interface with QTR and set the profiles for HPR. Works great on my 2200. Richard

thank you richard for your quick reply! what i don´t understand: when i open the QTRgui interface, i see a window that asks for media type - is that where HPR should appear? Or how do I set profiles for HPR? Of course I downloaded the ICCprofiles from Hahnemühle, so they are in the right folder. Or do I have to set them in epson print preview - i thought i either work in the "normal" epson print-mode - or in QTR. still confused... andreas --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Richard Sintchak <rich815@g...> wrote: > I use the QTRgui interface with QTR and set the profiles for HPR. > Works great on my 2200. > > Richard > > > On Mon, 21 Feb 2005 07:25:30 -0000, hublaif <hub.laif@t...> wrote: > > > > i want to print bw on hahnemühle photo rag 308 g on an epson 2100 > > (original ink), using QTR. Then, look in the curves pull-down boxes. You'll find, for example, UCmk_2200-HPR-cool and UCmk_2200-HPR-warm. Walt

Andreas QTR does not use ICC profiles (except as described in Roy's latest addition of QTR Matte and QTR Photo and this is done in the PS print pane not in the QTR driver pane). For all matte paper QTR "profiles" (and in fact, I believe, for most RC paper profiles) the paper choice is simply "Matt Paper". QTR uses curves which people have erroneously been referring to as profiles. These curves are selected in the QTR print pane (I am a Mac user and so do not know exactly what the QTR PC GUI looks like). As I understand it, no specific HPR curves have been made for the PC version (I may be out of date on this and some may have been made available in the last week or so). In this case just use the EEM curves for now. Making your own curves requires a bit more understanding and work. I strongly recommend you go through Roy's new ICC addition and use QTR Gray as your workspace and prior to printing convert your image to QTR Matte (don't lose your original master image). Instructions have been posted here many times before and there is a readme in Roy's download. Steve

I use QTR/Gui with Windows and I don't have a curve for HPR either, unless it's been added in a more current version than the one I'm using. I don't use HPR so I don't know for sure but I seem to remember a couple people here saying they got good results with HPR using the EEM curve.

No, I'm using a PC to drive my 2200, and I do have the HPR curves I listed in that reply. It's possible I got them from someone else on this list, I suppose, as the QTR install log doesn't show them. If so perhaps someone else will know where they came from; I can't find the file nor URL I installed them from. Sorry. Walt

Sorry. Searching back through the archives I found the link to the site where I found the HPR "profile" for QTR on the 2200. See this message from Carl Schofield back in October: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/message/49876 which has a link to his site at http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/FileSharing.woa/wa/default?user=scho&templatefn=FileSharing2.html&xmlfn=TKDocument.2.xml&sitefn=RootSite.xml&aff=consumer&cty=US&lang=en where you can find quad2200.zip.
