9600 QTR and Roll applications??

9600 QTR and Roll applications??

2005-03-01 by john dean

It seems that the QTR rip on a 9600 does not have roll capability, with utilization of the
paper cutter. I am I right? Do you have to use the sheet media setting on the printer for
rolls?

This rip is beautiful and I am totally grateful a million times over, but it is
very slow. It would be nice to just put everything on the roll and have the machine trim
the jobs itself.

John,

Have you tried using roll paper? As far as I know you should be able to
use it. I don't use roll paper in general so I'm less familar with it.
There's Roll Paper Feed option that you must pick and you should set the
printer for roll paper on the printer front panel. The cutter should only be
used for the lighter weight papers -- heavy fine art papers should be cut
manually.

HI Roy,

When I selected QTR driver in the 9600 and set the Epson media setting to Roll Paper, qtr
wouldn't send the file to the printer. It kept telling me that my media setting was wrong
and it just wouldn't rip the file and print from it. When I set the Epson setting on sheet
media it did fine with the roll set up, but at the end of the roll the printer just kept rolling
out all my paper on to the floor until it was all out. I tried to stop the printer by pressing
pause and even tried to shut the power off but it wouldn't stop. I didn't want to unplug the
machine while lights were flashing and I really shouldn't have tried to stop it by pushng
the power button.

I'm really not complaing. I love this rip so much. If I have to use sheets the rest of my days
I'll still be happy. I'm getting a very nice tone with 50% w & 50% cool curves on H. Photo
Rag. Just excellent.

Has anyone else used QTR on the 9600 with Ultrachrome and roll driver settings. It could
very well be that I am doing something wrong. I just don't what that would be.
