data recovery software

2005-03-07 by Steve Schaefer

I am looking for some data recovery software. I lost a lot of images on an
almost full 1GB card. After spending $75.00 on Data Rescue it appears it
does not recover raw images. It did a great job on the jpgs, but the raw files
would not open. It wants to make the raw files a tiff and photo shop will not
recognize them. I tried just changing the tag but that did not work.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

I use Lexar Image Rescue. Ver 2.0.
To test, I just created a Canon RAW file, reformated the card and
recovered the image without problems but YMCV.
According to Lexar the software works with other brands but check
with them first. The have an efficient IM-type support facility.

Good luck,

Roman

Steve; Do a Google on 'GetDataBack', I've used it succesfully on an
HD who's file allocation table had been toasted, & the OS wouldn't
even see it. There's a demo that'll allow you to do everything
except copy the files over & save them, and if it works it's only
$75.00

Best of luck,

Are you in expert mode or the automatic one?

What brand of cards? From which camera?

I have been recovering NEFs with that for two years, and was on the beta
test for the 2.xx version.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
