Sorry if this has been discussed and I missed it... Is anyone interested in these gloss papers? The specs say they will last 30 years with good quality pigment inks... 10 with dyes. 30 years may not be long enough for fine art photog's but for some commercial uses?? <http://www.ilford.com/html/us_english/prod_html/galerie/htm/prod/products.h tm> Carolyn

I use the Classic Pearl Paper for color printing with the Epson C80 - it works very well: impressive results. Pigment inks are reported to last longer, but I've only had the printer and paper for less than 6 months so I cannot vouch personally for longevity. Maris

Thanks Maris, I'd like to try it with Piezo BW and my Epson 2000P pigments. Carolyn

A pure black will also look lighter than it should because the ink sits on the surface of the paper. Apparently there is a resin coated paper which may be better with these archival inks but I haven't got the name of it yet. Josh

Maris, Thank you for your very kind offer. I'm in Canada and it would probably be a pain to do this. The link you gave me offers a sample pack for cost of shipping... I'd rather do that than use your time and resources. Thanks!! Warm Regards, Carolyn

Hi Josh, According to the Ilford site, Smooth Pearl says "Instant Dry"? and both Classic Gloss and Classic Pearl say "Resin Coated"... Are you using the Smooth Pearl or the Classic Pearl? http://www.ilford.com/html/us_english/prod_html/galerie/htm/prod/cpp.htm Carolyn

Hello from Iowa, I wanted to check back and see if anyone has had more experience with the Ilford Pearls. The Classic is recommended for dye based inks so I have been profiling it with the Epson oem inks for color printing and so far it looks very good. The Smooth Pearl supposedly works with pigment inks and is fast drying. Well, the tone with MIS FS is beautiful, but 4 hours after printing I can still smudge ink in the midtones. I'm hoping someone has had it longer and knows that it really dries. Thanks, Hap --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@y..., Carolyn Frayn <carolyn@u...> wrote: > Sorry if this has been discussed and I missed it... > > Is anyone interested in these gloss papers?
