QTR selecting 2 tone curves help

QTR selecting 2 tone curves help

2005-03-18 by frankg_photo

Windows xp pro.

I have just purchased a used 2200 printer with Epson Ultrachrome
inkset & matte black.

I downloaded QTR 2.1f.

I need a little help clarifying how to use the curves/paper
selections and blending. In the Curves dropdown menu evrything is
prefixed by UC which I gather is the Ultrachrome inkset that I have
installed.

But many of the common epson papers & others are not represented
(smooth fine art, watercolor, arches infinity, hahnemuhle photorag
and so on...) Either I havent installed correctly or one can get them
elsewhere ?

Those that are installed dont seem to have a Neutral gey tone option.
For example EenhMatte (epson enhanced matte i presume) has cool, cool
se, sepia & warm. But no neutral. I do see a NoBlack neutral and a
None option, but not sure when/how it applies. All the other papers
are similarly designated - cool, sepia, warm?

Perhaps someone can please provide an example of how to set the
curves and blends to get a neutral print on epson enhanced matte or
hahnemuhle photorag (which are 2 papers I have some stock of).

This is probably elementary for most of you but even after printing
out the help section and reading it a couple of times I dont quite
get it.

thanks
Frank

I'm on a Mac but I think it's the same for Windows...

If there is not a neutral curve you can mix warm and cool curves. Choose the two curves
and start with a 50/50 mix. If it's too cool add more of the warm curve and visa-versa...
