Cobra skin pattern from scans

Cobra skin pattern from scans

2005-03-21 by nickmt

Dear all,

Using a Microtek 4500t to scan 6x6 color negs results in a horrible pattern,
like a cobra's skin, all across my scans, particularly in the light areas.
Anyone dealt with such a problem? I recall someone eliminating a channel
somehow to help out in a possibly related way....(?)

Thanks
Nick

Could you link an example?

Thanks

Jules

This may not help, but one of my associates just had this same problem using
my Nikon 9000 -- color neg shot of a person, ended up w. a weird "snakeskin"
pattern on the person's skin. (It only happened to this one scan out of a series
of about 30 prior scans). When he re-did the preview and re-did the final
scan, the film scanned correctly without the "snakeskin." I have no idea what
caused it in the first place or why re-scanning eliminated it, so I'd be interested
in answers too.

This is the culprit, a bit wild, as it¹s pin hole, and not color corrected,
but the pattern in the sky is not in the neg.

Thanks
Nick

If you don't have your own web site to put it on, upload a small crop to the
group's Files area:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/files/

Don't use the Photos area, since Yahoo downsizes everything.
