Yes and much older potentially requiring maintenance

Well it's bigger but the quality at the same size is comparable

Bigger droplet sizes and only six inks

Are there good b&w prints

I just made a drop dead gorgeous B&W using a 7600 and MIS
Ultrachrome equivalent inks. I'm very impressed. No color
crossover at all.

You can download QTR and try it yourself on the 2100. Just
install the 2200 profiles

Paul..... If you were setting up a 7500 just for B&W
with a Mac how would you do it? Francis Ford

Francis,

I'd do exactly as mine is now set up -- with the inkset I call the 7500
UT-FSN+. (MIS is selling it.) I had the UT1 in the 7500, and that works
fine for matte paper, but not for glossy paper. It floods the paper.

So, for glossy paper the 7500 does better with only one "channel" going at a
time. So, I put FSN-tone ink in C, LC, and Y. In the M spot I put MIS PK
so that I get an excellent dmax with the UT-FSN-C + PK. In the LM spot I
put UT2-LM (light carbon). This mostly allows me to profile the papers
better. I don't like the cold shadow tones of some rag papers.

I print is with the usual PS curves and Epson driver.

Although it is theoretically not an optimum setup for warm carbon tone
prints, it actually works reasonably well because the highlight tone is
mostly controlled by the paper rather than the super-light UT-FSN-Y. Also,
the PK is not that much darker than the dark gray (e.g., UT2-M) on matte
paper.

At any rate the setup works very well. I'm saving my 7500 for now because,
frankly, I'm not sure the 7600 is a superior B&W printer.
