Sure...I would be interested in buying those Piezo inks from you....but the customs duty would probably make them too expensive! (wink)

I don't know if anyone posted anything about the london meet, but I had a
great time! It was nice meeting new faces and comparing prints and styles.
meeting Mike Stone again was good fun - if anyone is into portraits I can't
recomend his stuff strongly enough. I've come back with some DiXactol dev
which I'm itching to try - I need to measure 1cc units, so I need to source
a syringe first! But the idea of being able to put any film, of any asa,
into a tank for the same time/temp has got to be worth checkingout. I've
also just fired up the MIS FS - it needs to sit overnight, but I'll report
back later. I also have a full set of unopened Piezo inks in 4oz bottles for
  sale. Any offers?

Re: [Digital BW] london meeting and FS

2001-11-30 by Mike Stone

After lurking for a while I had better introduce my self to everyone else.

I am an editorial portrait photographer based in London recently converted
to the Cone system with intermittent success. My terminally clogged 1160 is
on its way back to epson and I have yet to make a decision on inks for its
replacement.

Julian I would be most interested in your opinion once the MIS FS system is
up and running and I am sure you will be keeping us all posted.

Silverprint will sell you a 1ml syringe for the great price of 41 pence.

Regards

Mike Stone

Yeah, I know, and now I'm in Spain 20gbp postage, doh! I should have read
the instructions in the shop. As far as FS goes - I'd finish your piezo inks
in the new 1160 and then if you want a change, plug in FS. One thing that
you get with Piezo that you don't get with MIS (I think?) is a darn good
tech support, which in the early days is worth paying for. Especially as Nij
is around the corner from you. Even though I'm switching, I still think that
the piezo system is the best course for a beginner. All the samples I've
seen make FS as close as dammit to piezo. I've got two halfsets of piezo I'm
keeping, but I'm getting rid of the full set I've got. 156USD and I'll pay
shipping??? should get me 4 pints of FS... One thing i have noticed, I have
an image which Nij likes - 402- which I didn't bring over because I couldn't
get rid of a green cast, I've already got a more neuteral, but banded cos I
couldn't wait to get the inks settled, print. There is a slight contrast
increase as we noticed in London (although I'd been drinking for most of the
day, so I'm suprised I could see anything). One of the great things about
this list is that people are upfront with alternatives - Mike Kravitzs post
on new RIPs is a case in point.

Syringes.

You can buy them at your local Chemist. In fact, I had a hard time
convincing my Chemist that I was not a drug addict. After paying for
them she told me I could have had them for free......if I had been an
addict!

Now Mike is a kinda shy and retiring sort of bloke - so let me just point
you to his website http://www.mikestonephotographer.com/. If he ever joins a
print exchange with his potrait of Darcy B I'm in!
