I've just written a review of the new 'Convert to B/W pro 3'
Photoshop plugin

It converts colour images to black and white, taking the approach of
simulating traditional filter, film and paper characteristics.

I was expecting it to be not a lot more than all the various
Photoshop techniques I've come across, but was pleasantly
surprised at how well the effects duplicated those in my (long
defunct) darkroom.

There is a 30 day demo of the software available (link in review) and
slightly older versions that even run on PCs under windoze ;-)
