Toning

After following the mind-breaking thread on Monitor vs Print I want to suggest another topic; Toning. In the relatively short time that I've been following this group there has not been much discussion about toning. One of our participants, Tom Zuber, has a website called www.zuberphotographics.com which has a number of downloads available among is a collection of 70 B&W tones. Combined with the QTR ink curves they provide an almost unlimited range of tones. I once took a wet darkroom workshop with Mark Citret who showed me a beautiful toning which was selenium to about 95% (deep black, not purple) topped off with a delicate 5% sepia. (Percentages are rough estimates.) I haven't yet been able to approach that on the inkjet printer but I'm trying. Anyone care to comment? Ian
