New Epson Printer......Can one achieve great results with only 3 bla

New Epson Printer......Can one achieve great results with only 3 bla

2005-05-11 by oohlalaland

Hmmm. I'm trying to "learn" black and white printing on my new
Epson c86. Presently, I have only one Eboni black ink in it and the
other three slots are Epson colored inks (the MIS colored inks failed
to print.) I'm, obviously, a newbie. What other black inks can be used
in the c86 for black and white (only) printing. Thanks so much, Madeleine

Madeleine,
I'm beginning that journey myself very soon. I just got a new c86 on
ebay to replace the c84 and will retrofit the c84 to run with the MIS
ez-fill system in a BO configuration. Eboni will also be the only MIS
cartridge of theirs that I will be using the regular epson inks as
fillers that will only be depleted during cleaning cycles. Please stay
tuned and maybe we'll pick up a few others along the way.

Hello Madeleine,

Well, you've stumbled into a complicated issue. MIS makes a good ink. Try staying with it
for a while to see how you like it. There are other ways to print black and white but take
some time and wade into the water slowly because the learning curve is steep (it was for
me anyway). Google black and white photography and read as much as you can about
everything out there.

Good luck!
