John,

What I do not understand is that Epson didn't invite you 5 years ago to
lead the design team, that would have saved us a lot of headaches :-)

I applaud your point here. Having worked on design teams for over 25 years,
I can tell you that product design and production is run by bean counters and
sales/marketing types much more so than engineers. Product lines must EVOLVE
because there is so much to learn from one generation to the next.

Historially, there are many companies whose products got worse over time
rather then better (cheaper materials, etc.). The PRINT QUALITY improves with
each generation of printer, so we should be thankful for the opportunity to buy
such quality for a measly 5 Grand (try an RA-4 setup that can make 44" prints
 and see what THAT costs).

IJC/OPM on an Epson 4000

2005-05-15 by John Custodio

Anybody using ILC/OPM on an Epson 4000 with MIS or
PiezoTone inks? Any comments positive or negative?

I'm using IJC/OPM on a 4000, but only with UC inks. Joe Berndt is in
the process of increasing the ink limits for the 4000 so you can get
more ink on the page. The 4000 wasn't spitting out enough ink before,
but it is just fine with the new beta. I recommend you contact him
before going wild building profiles. This will apply whether using UC
or MIS inksets.

Bill, I am currently using IJC/OPM for Windows v1.08. This version
provides plenty of ink for the 4000. I believe Joe will be formally
releasing the latest version with some neat enhancements in the next
week.

If you are on version 1.2, I am guessing you are on a Mac. I am
pretty sure Joe has increased the ink limits for the 4000 on the Mac
version too. Best to check with Bowhaus.
