Unusual Clog

2005-05-21 by edrudolpho

Hi all... I'm using the UT7 set in a 2200 and suddenly find myself with a clog problem I
don't understand. After changing a number of cartridges, I can't get a good nozzle check.
Sometimes a couple of carts will be printing only partially, sometimes a number of carts
will not print *anything*. The nozzle checks don't seem to be making a progress but just
shifting from fairly bad to terrible to fairly bad. Can anyone help me to diagnose the
problem?

Are you sure there is ink in the carts? The monitor might show ink even
though the cart is out. If it's low at all, pull the carts and be sure
there is ink there.

If the carts were newly filled, be sure they were primed.

(Just some thoughts ...)

Thanks for the reply Paul. I'm wondering if that is how this clog got started. I think the
black cart had gone bone dry but was indicating half full. As a result perhaps the lines
have a lot of air that I can't clear?

Carts or CFS? I just threw away another 3 carts because they had become
completely useless. Holding the cart so that the clip is on the left, do
you see into the cart at all around the area above the poppet valve? Ie is
air getting into the area below the foam?

Carts, Steve.... and these are not refilled carts, but prefilled from MIS.
