Best possible B+W prints from Canon 1D

2005-06-01 by dave wyatt

Hi guys,

I've been reading for a couple of weeks and was
wondering what the consensus is for the absolute best
print quality from a digital original? I shoot B+W
reportage and print upto A3+ ( I have a 2100). Am I
better off producing negs and printing in the wet
darkroom or purchasing an MIS inkset (UT-7 + CIS
system, I print quite a lot) and printing on something
like Photo Rag? I am after a traditional fibrebase
print look, with a matte finish, as has been much seen
in galleries and as collector's prints for decades.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if you would
like to see the kind of work I'm printing then I have
a small web gallery of sorts at the following page (I
was playing with CS 2!). You need the latest Flash to
view it.

Thanks again

Dave Wyatt

Hello Dave,

You will find as many opinions as there are techniques to that
question. I had a look at your web site and like the work very much.
I think your pics would look great printed with the Black Only (BO)
technique. There is info about it in the articles at the web site
below.

Clayton
