Photoshop HDR

Has anyone had a decent play with this? I am particularly interested not in the Merge to HDR
command but in the use of the compression back the other way. In other words, you've done
your multiple exposures, merged them into a 32 bit format but now need to print and so
you're looking at the tools that compress the available range back to a printable bit depth...
How's it work in practice?

I mostly looked at the automatic merging -- and it was low quality. The
noise level was increased and the moving parts of a landscape (sky, leaves,
etc.) were a mess, even with the PS attempts at matching the details.

I'll continue to do manual merging in 16 bit.
