Re: Hahnemuhle [Entrada] flaking

Saldelrey wrote of problems with Entrada flaking. I've mentioned my problems before with Kayenta, but I've also had problems with Entrada. I've purchased 4 boxes of Moab paper (all at different times) and they all suffered from surface "defects" in one way or another. I've actually produced several small books with Kayenta, but physically rubbed the sheets down with an old t-shirt then used an anti-static brush. But afterwards decided that I would no longer purchase Moab matte papers, just too much work. I've been hearing this stuff about defective batches for months now on this forum, and it looks like people are still getting that excuse. All that said, my first piece to be displayed in a gallery went up yesterday. Guess what it was printed on? Yup, Entrada. The print came out looking pretty nice, but the next day there was a white spot on it. After cursing a bit I finally decided to fix it, as opposed to re-printing since time was running short before the exhibition. I dipped a toothpick into my UC matte black ink cartridge, and carefully dabbed it on the spot. Once it was covered over only I would be able to find the defect. So if you're wondering why I printed something for exhibition on a paper that I've decided is problematical there are a few of reasons. 1. I thought it would look good on that cream colored paper (it did). 2. I have a box of 13x19 entrada lying around that cost me a decent piece of change that needs to get used up some way. 3. This was originally printed for home use, I found out about it being accepted for display the next day after the print was made. Derek
