Dmax with Epson 4000, QTR and Epson EMatte?

I have obtained only 1.65 Dmax with an Epson 4000, QTR and on Epson Archival Matte (with an Ink Limit Adjustment on 0). Is it something usual? What should I do to increase such DMax (without killing the dark grays)? Thanks for your help JM Humbert Paris, France
