Priting on the R2400 using ABW mode

Priting on the R2400 using ABW mode

2005-08-22 by Steve

Hi everybody,

My name is Steve and I am new here having received my R2400 a little
over a week ago and just starting to put it through its paces. I
asked this question in the R2400 group but got no response. Maybe I
will have better luck here.

I have come up with a couple of questions in my testing. The one
alluded to in the title of this post has to do with the color
management settings in Photoshop when printing using the advanced
Black and White mode in the Epson printer driver.

In Photoshop's Print with Preview window, what do I put in the Print
Space -> Profile box if I am going to use the ABW mode in the printer
driver? I don't want to double profile or set anyting that will make
the print come out horrible.

Once I get this sorted out, I will ask about the color cast I am
getting when using the Epson profiles. Like I said, that will be for
another time.

Thanks for your help,

Steve

You should be using "Same as Source" or "No Color Management" in CS2 lingo.
However it is worth you reading a little about a little module that the
developer of Quadtone RIP (QTR) wrote. It is called QTR-Create-ICC profile.
If you have the equipment (say an EyeOne Photo) you can create an ICC
profile of the luminance of, for example, Epson AB&W Neutral Darker and set
this profile in the PS print window.

Don't use a colour profile to do your B&W.
