Yes, that is a good way to get totally smooth highlights.

Yes, the UT-FS-Y is what I recommend. It's medium warm, but the paper tone
controls the highlights, so it works well.

The UT7-LC is a light, pure carbon ink that is warmer and denser than the
UT-FS-Y. The UT7-LC also works well, including with the driver sliders, but
it is the same density as the UT2-LM -- in fact, it's the same ink.
I've used them both. On some papers the FS-Y gives smoother results if the
print is inspected very close up. On others, I can't see any difference.
For printing with the Epson driver with only the sliders, the UT7-LC or
UT2-LM might be slightly better in that the ramp will be a bit closer to the
usual target.
