a paper characteristics info table ?

a paper characteristics info table ?

2001-12-17 by frankg_photo

does anyone have a table of specs for the popular papers that they're
willing to share ?

I'm thinking of something easy to refer to with rows and columns
showing the different brands and their characteristics - such as :

contains or doesn't contain optical brighteners, coated or not-1 side
or 2, smooth finish or water col, weight (gsm/mm), acid free or not,
bright white or natural white, etc....

thanks
Frank

Frank,

Check out "Files>Paper Data" from the group homepage. Antonis
compiled a database of paper information in Filemaker and there is a
tab delimited version as well.

I am on a PC and I have Excel, Word etc.

Frank,

the data in these files only goes up to August 2001. I will be working on an
update soon. Meanwhile, what is there downloads and unstuffs OK on a Mac
(excel and word files) but I guess PC formats are different.
The FileMaker files will need you to have the program (on either platform)
before you can open them. There is a tab-delimited text version but you need
Stuffit to uncompress.
Also look in our Database area. There were the beginnings of a
member-supported database, but seems pretty incomplete.

Sorry this isn't more directly helpful. I hope to pick up where I left back in
August....

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
