CompUSA :R200 Printer $49

CompUSA :R200 Printer $49

2005-08-29 by scott_now_coming

I live in Ohio and todays CompUSA ad is advertising the Epson R200 for
$49, after 2 rebates. I'm sure it's a national promotion.

I mention this because there has been some recent discussion here that
this printer is capable of producing better B&W prints than the C-86
(that's hard to believe!).

Oh, drat. I just paid $79 <g>.

I think the discussion has centered around it's BO ability, which as a
general observation of user reports seems better than C86. Mine is
making BO prints that are nearly as good as the 2200 ones. User
reports seem to indicate that most C86 BO prints are too coarse, with
a few users reporting better results. This is all anecdotal of
course. Hard to say for certain until someone does a comparison of a
bunch of BO prints from a number of printers.

Clayton

That's good to hear. I really like BO prints, but my C86 bands too bad.

Mine isn't too course. Once I picked up two prints I made, one BO and
the other MIS EZ, and I couldn't tell which was which. I had to look
REAL CLOSE to see the banding.

It's a shame we can't have a cheap 13x19" printer to do BO printing.

I have the 4800, and the "BLACK" mode uses just the 3 black inks, but
the prints just don't have that nice luminosity as the C86 BO prints.

Any chance Epson will make an R1200? : > )
