MIS "Pro" & 2400 inks

MIS "Pro" & 2400 inks

2005-08-30 by Paul Roark

MIS has informed me that the "Pro" color ink that was recently announced is
the new version of the older 7600 UC clone inks. That is, it uses the new
base, which really helps with respect to bronzing in the samples I've seen.

With respect to the MIS 2400 inks, they are different than the new 7600
color inks. Like the Epson version, Eboni is the only one that is the same.

With any luck, the new MIS 2400 inks will be on the MIS website by the end
of the week.

Will those inks be the B&W inks? If so, what are the ink positions.

Paul,

that's like we expected it to be but MIS wasn't very
informative so far.
Is the base compatible with the old MIS 7600, in short can we
continue filling the (10000) carts but now with the new ink or
should the old ink go into the drain (so to speak) ?

The new MIS 2400 inkset will be a clone of the Epson color K3 inkset. There
will be a B&W version, but I have not had time to get to that yet.

Hi Paul;

Would there be any advantage to waiting & using the K3 inks in a
7600?

Ernst,

The new MIS Pro inks appear to be very chemically compatible with both the
MIS 7600 and Epson pigments. However, the color balance is slightly
different. So, it sounds like new profiles would be required, and it might
be a waste of time to mix the inksets and have to do multiple profiles.

This is the answer I've received from MIS (actually a cut and paste of a
couple of e-mails):

> ... MISPRO can go on top

I hope this helps. I have not yet received any of the new inks, but when I
do I'll try to summarize the differences I see.

I doubt it, but it's an unknown at this point.

Apparently the LK is even different between the 2 sets. When I receive them
I'll post the differences I can detect. The Epson 2400 LK doesn't seem as
warm as the older one, so maybe that is the difference.

I loaded the new pro inks right on top of the old MIS inks
without problem. Clolrs are very close to the old inks but you
may want to reprofile for critical work.
