R2400 inks in a 2200
2005-09-01 by helen_bach2003
I tried loading R2400 inks into refillable cartridges for one of my 2200's - selecting MK, PK, LK, LLK, LC, LM and blue or gloss optimizer from the R800. The LK and LLK look closer to neutral than the LK from the 2200 set. The DMax for the MK on Innova Smooth Cotton is slightly (<0.1) lower than the DMax I measured on the K7 sample I received, but please remember that the K7 sample was not intended for the measurement of DMax. Here are the densities I measured with a Macbeth TR924, all from the visual channel except the RGB readings for IPSC which are Status A. Please remember that these are just one set of readings from one set of tests and that a different 2200 was used for the R2400 ink test than the 2200 ink tests. Innova Photo Smooth Cotton MK 1.59 (R 1.56; G 1.60; B 1.64) LK 1.15 (R 1.14; G 1.16; B 1.21) LLK 0.64 (R 0.62; G 0.65; B 0.72) Innova Photo Fibaprint Ultra Smooth MK 1.63 LK 1.17 LLK 0.66 Epson Ultrasmooth Fine Art MK 1.69 LK 1.15 LLK 0.63 Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 MK 1.62 LK 1.18 LLK 0.66 For comparison, here are the measurements I made with the standard Ultrachrome inks for the 2200: Innova Photo Smooth Cotton MK 1.60 (R 1.56; G 1.61; B 1.63) LK 1.14 (R 1.11; G 1.17; B 1.20) Innova Photo Fibaprint Ultra Smooth MK 1.61 LK 1.16 Epson Ultrasmooth Fine Art MK 1.68 LK 1.13 Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 MK 1.64 LK 1.22 The LC and LM RGB readings were within 0.07 of each other, with most differences being about 0.02. I also printed tests on Epson Premium Glossy Photo with and without R800 gloss optimizer, but haven't measured them yet. Best, Helen
