Matte exhibition prints not behind glass

Matte exhibition prints not behind glass

2005-09-19 by redseamus007

I'm new to digital B&W printing so still feeling my way.

I've got an exhibition in January and I'm hoping to make the prints on
an Epson R2400. I want to print on a 'bright' matte paper and display
the prints on boards in their 'raw' form, not behind glass. What are
your thoughts on the best paper to do this?

I'm particularly concerned with keeping bronzing down to a minimum.
The exhibition is going to be on display for two months.

Thanks for your help,
Sean Malyon, Bristol, UK

Bronzing isn't really an issue with matte papers

What would be a problem is people touching the black areas and leaving
marks. For this, I'd recommend 3 light coats of Lascaux Fixativ. See
http://www.dickblick.com/zz217/14/ . Most other fixatives reduce dmax too
much.

About the brightest (most OBAs) paper I've seen is the Premier Premium Matte
-- great dmax and cheap also. See
http://www.photowarehouse.biz/premier.html, the last paper listed.

Good luck.

You forget that people in the UK like to pay the highest possible price!
;-) $11 a can - we pay £11 - 80% more and the stuff is made in
Switzerland...go figure

Steve,

I read off the preview, which does not show the full e-mail address,
including the "UK."

VAT perhaps?
