I like 300gsm but find it feeds erratically (sometimes fine, sometimes not) with 2200... may have to do with humidity...I'm top-loading, have not been able to figure out back loading... Ideas? Advice to a dummy about back-loading? How's it done, what settings? Thanks!

Read the manual that came with the printer. Anything beyond about 240 gsm you definitely need to backload. It's easy. Just do it. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "djon43" <djon43@y...> wrote:

Are you using a MAC? I believe that the 2200 driver and OS10 do not speak to eachother when it comes to backloading. I.E. you can't do it. That is so strange. When I was printing on my 2200 with Moab Entrada, I had to top load and it was a real struggle. I could not figure out a consistent method for feeding the paper with out getting a jam. I think if you tilt it forward a bit (be sure it is not curled) and keep some slight even pressure on the top as it feeds in you may have more frequent success.

Er nope you can rear feed the 21/2200 in OS-X. It is really easy. Lever down. Feed paper through rear slot aligning with side of printer. Insert until 1cm past front rollers (looking down through the lid). Lever back up to the envelope setting. Press paper button and watch the printer align itself. Print. None of this has anything to do with the driver. Works like a charm.

Actually there was a bug in earlier versions of OSX that prevented rear feeding I belive as well as full bleeds. They updated it. So if this is one of the older versions of say Jaguar or early Panther you need up go online and update. And that does make sense, which is why it surprised me to see in the manual "you can't print on thick paper in the manual feed slot when you're printing with Macintosh OS X applications. Best regards, John Moody

Actually I have rear loaded my 2100 through all the versions of OS-X. There is nothing to set in the driver at all. You need not set anything in the driver at all. At any rate the original poster should rear feed 300gsm paper and get on with it. ;-)

Thanks RGoldman... I asked here because I'd thought topics other than MIS could be addressed. Yes, I've had awkward (but 100%) success feeding 300gsm Entrada Natural from the top...it's a convenience on my desktop, though it requires the attentions you've described and is harder in high humidity. Oddly, I ran into much more difficulty with whitened Entrada than I've had with Natural...and I do think it has a different physical spring to it. I did get immediate real help from the Yahoo 2200 site... only one snippy response that failed to show the courtesy to address the question. As some of us know, the manual doesn't fully address the heavy paper issue. Incidentally, I use a PC...irrelevant to the printer's mechanics Vs heavy paper. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "rgoldman2" <rgoldman@n...> wrote: > Are you using a MAC? Misery does love company, I guess. But since you have a PC, you should be able to feed from the back is my understanding. I'm sorry I can't be helpful regarding a solution. Keep searching; I don't think you have to suffer with the top feed problem.
