Using UT2 inkset, what constitutes a pure carbon print

Using UT2 inkset, what constitutes a pure carbon print

2005-10-01 by Jamie Creed

I'm using a couple of modified UT2 inksets; in one of them I've
changed the sepia in the yellow position for FSN-y, and I've changed
the Eboni for PKN; in the other set I've left Eboni in place and
changed the sepia for FS-y.

question: which inks constitute a pure carbon print, is it just the
use of Eboni, PKN, M, LM and FSN-y or FS-y; or just the use of Eboni,
M or LM,

Jamie

The "pure carbon" inks are Eboni, PK (not PKN), M, LM, (not FSN-Y or even
FS-Y). The lightest pure carbon in the MIS UT inkset family is UT1 quad M
or Hex Y (half way between FS M and Y, and slightly lighter than LLK).

That confirms what I had concluded about FS-Y. It is quite a bit more
neutral than the UT7 LC for example and does not match that ink well.

Paul, UT-HEX-4-Y (which I think you're referring to) as shown on MIS's
color swab page looks almost identical to UT7 LC. Is that a fair
representation? It's a pity MIS don't have a lighter pure carbon ink.
