MIS PKs

MIS PKs

2005-10-01 by Paul Roark

I now have the MIS 2400 ("K4") and full MIS PRO ("MP") inksets. One of the
first things I noticed is that the K4 PK is not the same as the MP PK. The
MP PK in the R200 has bad gloss differential. The K4 PK looks good and has
a better dmax. So, at least to the extent the R200 is typical, the MP PK
appears to have too high a pigment load.

RE: [Digital BW] MIS PKs - R200 v. C86

2005-10-01 by Paul Roark

I need to modify the previous post. The R200 is part of the problem. With
the MIS Pro Pk the C86 gets a great 2.34 dmax, and the C86 shows virtually
no gloss differential. With K4 PK the C86 dmax drops a bit, to 2.27. In
the R200 MIS PRO Pk showed serious gloss differential and a low dmax. The
best dmax I've seen with the R200 in these tests is 2.05, with an average of
about 2.0.

While the R200 has slightly smoother highlights, by the time I can see the
C86 highlight dots, I can also see the start of the R200 darker inks. The
C86 shadow ramp also appears better than the R200, if not quite as smooth
with magnification.

So far, while I'm far from done with the R200, I'm currently less impressed
with it and thinking the C86 is the better printer for EZ B&W.

Hello Paul,

>The R200 is part of the problem...

I found a huge difference in print quality among the various paper
type settings, have you tried different ones?

Clayton

I have a couple of boxes of Kirkland paper...might give the MIS PKN a
try for 2200 BO printing of family snaps and such. Does the PKN get
close to effectively eliminating bronzing/gloss differential?
