Profile Prism for profiling B/W

Profile Prism for profiling B/W

2005-10-16 by andy

Although I have posted to the Profile Prism group I wonder If I might have
more luck asking here....

Has anyone successfully used Profile Prism to get a useable profile for
black and white output?
I won't clog this forum with crossposting, my post to the other group is
here:

Advice from someone who has been happy with their b/w PP profiles, or from
someone who has exhausted all the permutations without success, would be
most welcome...

The QTR program contains a program called QTR Create ICC. This is
designed for and produces excellent grayscale profiles. At $50 it's
a bargain and you will make back the cost in paper and ink savings in
short time. You do need and Eye One Photo (and I think some other
instruments are or will shortly be supported).

Hi Andy;

I have PP and have spent a fair amount of time tying ti get good
profiles out of it, but it isn't any better (or worse) than any
other scanner based profiling system. Which is to say, you can get
ok profiles fairly easily, but it's very hard to get really good
ones. IMO If your color printing needs are fairly stable and you
don't need a lot of profiles, you'd probably do better to use a
profiling service and have a few professional ones made.

Best of luck,
