Embedded ICC

Embedded ICC

2005-10-27 by Paul Roark

When I past a file with an embedded ICC onto an untagged gray file the view
becomes unusually dark - darker than it would be as an untagged gray file.
Why is this?

Paul,

It sounds like what you are seeing is a change in profile. Basically like
doing an Assign profile. The untagged file is treated as having the profile you
have selected as Gray Working Space in Color Settings. So you are seeing the values in
the file as the embedded ICC, but when you paste those values into the untagged
file you are then seeing them as the default gray space. What you see on the
display is ALWAYS based on a profile -- there is no disable of color management on
the screen.

Right, go to your color settings and see what behavior you have set
for color management policies, then mismatches "ask when pasting".

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
