2200 Piezotones

2200 Piezotones

2005-10-30 by pekozip93

Can anyone comment on PIezotones in a 2200?
I trying to decide between a 2200 CIS, and 4000 /w carts
The greater cost of the 4000 setup is steering me toward 2200..
Im concerned though about clog issues...wondering, all else aside,
which printer would handle piezotones with the least amount of issues..
Ive had bad piezography CIS experience in the past, partially my own
fault at the time though
any comments appreciated
Frank

Giving this a bump..I'd also like to know if the older Piezotone inks
(not K7) will work okay in a 2200. The printer is not listed as a
supported one but is there any reason to suppose these inks would
cause problems in a 2200?

The more I think about this, the more Im guessing that a 2200 will run
the inks well
Namely, it is a pigment "intended" printer.
There are a number of people Ive spoken with, or read on the various
lists, that report great success with the 4000 on these inks.
I think this may suggest (correct me if Im wrong), that the 2200 would
have little trouble given its slightly larger droplet size and far les
s complex print head..kinda out of knowledge level on that note
though. I have heard those more knowledgable than me state that this
would make sense..
Hopefully someone here can comment on thier experience

Seems to me that the reason Jon Cone did not release those inks for the 2200 was that he
couldn't find cartridges to suit him. Perhaps someone can post more about this, whether
it's true or not, the implications if it is, etc?

good point Ed.
I think its been fairly recent since 2200 CFS was readily available
Not certain that it necessarily relects negatively on the 2200's
ability to print with the piezotone though.
May be that as they were available fairly late in the cycle, and not
that long prior to K7 release that the timing was not in favour of
piezotone...I hope anyway, very interested in working with this setup.
There is a 2200 CFS made by MIS that Im currently using on a 2200 with
color pigments.
I wonder how this CFS would compare to Niagara lll.

I now have these inks running in my 2200..
K7....1, 3, 5, 6, 7
CS....Dark Grey, Med grey

I am still working on profiles, but getting there.
As for ink flow, When I initially installed the CIS,
I had to run a good number of purge sheets though it, maybe 12 - 15
and about 5 or 6 head cleanings.
the day after this, all inks were, and continue to run fine (6 days now)
So, at least in my case, it appears as though the piezotone runs fine
on this printer..
