We generally only print at 2880dpi when the image has very fine detail and the prints are on a resin coated photo paper. The dot gain on a softer paper negates the finer resolution of 2880. We build custom CMYK profiles and print with StudioPrint. Lots of time is spent tweaking ink limits to make sure we don't plug up the details particularly in the shadow areas.
